International government organizations
“In historical data of the relations of the United States referring to international organizations, it has had participation in 1991 with the constitution of the International Labor Relations” (Hudson, 1934). otherwise, we can find opinions regarding International organizations (IOs) have been widely criticized as ineffective. Yet scholars and practitioners assessing IO performance frequently focus on traditional modes of governance such as treaties and inter-state dispute-resolution mechanisms. (Abbott & Sindal, 2010)
International governmental organizations have influenced the United States so much that. “There is an organic relationship between the international governmental organizations and the source material they produce.” (Peter I, 1997) . For now, let’s start talking about the creation and origin of an international governmental organization well known to all of us and founded by the United States, which is «the United Nations,» demonstrating the importance and influence these organizations generated for the United States.
“the principles of democracy do not exist from the beginning in united nations and it took too long for the democratic principles to be recognized which are the basis of the American political system and which was applied to the international mechanisms where governments are represented, not individuals and in which the responsibilities of policy implementation are distributed unevenly” (luke, 2010).
The ILO, for its part, deals with labor relations with 187 member states, where they establish labor standards, formulate policies and develop programs to promote decent work for both men and women. (ILO, 2020). Finally, we will mention another of the organizations that have been part of the United States’ relations with the world, this organization tries to help the police of other countries to forge a safer world and is known as INTERPOL. (Noble, 2010) “The domestic politics of great powers shape the credibility and substance of multilateral regimes. The electoral system, division of governmental powers, and transparency of the political system of great powers are the determinants of how domestic politics shape multilateral regimes” (Cowhey, 1993)
International non-governmental organizations and hybrid international organizations
“By bringing international NGOs – what is often called ‘international civil society’ – into the diplomatic and international law-making process” (Anderson, 2000, págs. 91-120) “Many large international NGOs, such as Amnesty International, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Oxfam International, CARE, Save the Children, and the World Wildlife Fund, are transnational federations of national groups” (Karns, 2020) It should be noted that these are non-profit organizations that seek sustainable development worldwide. They also fight for human rights such as international amnesty. “The structures of NGOs vary considerably. They can be global hierarchies, with either a relatively strong central authority or a more loose federal arrangement. Alternatively, they may be based in a single country and operate transnationally”. (Willetts, 2010)
These types of organizations are very positive for the world, but why? The mere fact of thinking that in 1945 when this organization was created the world was in a strong recession for wars and many countries hurt and in crisis, “Non-Governmental Organizations and Development begins with a discussion of the wide diversity of NGOs and their roles, and locates their recent rise to prominence within broader histories of struggle as well as within the ideological context of neo-liberalism”. (Lewis, 2009)
From all of the above we conclude that these two types of organizations have come to influence the United States so much that they decided to create several of these organizations for sustainable development at the global level at the level of security and economy, “Identifies central organizational barriers to greater collaboration and accountability, and links these to the international political economy of the World Bank”. (Nelson, 1995) The United States has realized that these organizations are very important at the global level and has therefore invested millions of dollars over many years “It is concluded that while NGOs can, and many probably do, make a contribution to alleviating poverty and making the lives of the poor a little more tolerable, it stresses that this contribution is limited” (Riddell & Robinson, 1995).
